Royal CRE Philosophy
Robert Poe, designated broker and co-owner, and I have over 30 years between us in the real estate investment business. When we first started, we noted the environment commercial real estate agents worked in was frequently cutthroat. They were rewarded for their hard work with commission checks reduced by stiff and often hidden fees.
We decided there had to be a better way. Our first step in offering clients the very best service was to get the best agents on our team by creating an agent friendly brokerage.
My transition from economics into the real estate investment business was a year-long internship with a Chicago commercial real estate firm that specialized in real estate investment trusts (REITs) that resulted in large but infrequent commission checks.
When I moved to Arizona, I transitioned from that experience into more of the local market. It was in the local market where I saw that even though I was consistently closing deals, the profits were small.
What really got me thinking about how agents and brokerages do business is a leasing deal I did. My $1000 commission check was reduced to $82 after all the fees the taken by the brokerage I was working for. It was little wonder that the good agents didn’t stay long.
Our brokerage is based on an agent-friendly environment where there are fair, up-front fees in our returns. This approach has allowed us to develop our team of highly skilled agents that are focused on developing long term successful relationships with our clients.

- Never take the shortcuts on anything
- Never try to hide any information
If you know something, you should disclose it. Just because you don’t have to disclose it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t disclose it. Because 30, 40, 50 days from now someone is going to figure it out, and if the deal cancels over it, it will be wasted time for everyone involved – and no one benefits over that.
